Web Site Design (small-)project

You must design a (small) web site. This project is done by groups of 4 students. Groups do not have to be the regrouping of two groups from the first project. You only have 3 supervised hours. It is not expected more than 3 h. of personal (non supervised) work.

The session will take place on Wednesday May 5th, from 2pm to 5pm.

Objective

The objective is to put in practice the ergonomics rules of web site design.

Theme of the web site

The choice of the web site's theme is "moderated": you must chose one or more themes and submit them to your supervisor at the beginning of the session. Your theme will be validated if it fits the project objectives. If you don't come with any ideas, you will have to work on a theme chosen by your supervisor (such as "the SNCF web site").

Expectations

You must design a web site that follows the ergonomic rules for web sites that were presented at the lecture.

You must design:

  • the presentation of the information
  • the structure of the information
  • the navigation

The implementation will only involve client-side techniques (cf. lecture). That is: no php, no database, etc. The site should be lightweight (no Javascript, or only a little).

It is not requested to build a complete site. However, you must completely design:

  • the home page
  • the navigation: the navigation elements allowing to reach every part of the site must be present. However, some of these pages can be empty or almost empty.
  • at least one "content" page: this page shows how the content fits with the navigation.

Note: this is not an graphic design course. The esthetic quality of the web site will not be taken into account.

Deliverables

The projects are returned on Wednesday 12th at midnight the latest.

You will create a file archive of your web site. All the files must be placed in a directory which name is the login name of one of the group's members. The home page must be stored in a file named "index.html".

You must provide a file named "commentaires.txt" in the file archive. It will include all your comments and justification for your web site.

The file archive will be returned with the TEIDE application.
