Be careful when plugging the power cable!
It has a fragile small pin in the center. Insert the connector gently in the axis of the outlet.

Search for Open Haptics for Windows Developper toolkit (version 3.4 - 2016 here).
On this page, take a look at the License Agreement and the Readme, then download and install :
- In the Haptic device driver Installer section : Geomagic_Touch_Device_Driver;
- In the OpenHaptics Installer section : OpenHaptics_Developer_Edition.
After this, you should have three softwares available : Geomagic Touch Setup, Geomagic Touch Diagnostic, and Touch Demo.
Configuration
Follow all the instructions for a first time use.
You may need to follow these instructions again if you get a Communication error between your computer and the device.
If the device has already been paired, simply do steps '1' and '2'.
- Turn on the Phantom Omni and connect it to Ethernet port of your computer, or with the USB adaptor if your computer does not see it (USB adaptor needed for the Fablab's computers);
- Wait for it to be recognized (Network icon on the bottom right of your screen);
- Run Geomagic Touch Setup;
- Select as the device name Default;
- If you have previous configuration saved, click on Defaults on the right to erase it;
- Select as the Device Type : Geomagic Touch (This should select as the interface LAN)
- If your device is not automatically detected, you can click on the Scan button;
- Select your device (there should be only one), and click on Pair;
- On the Phantom Omni, push also on the Pair button behind the device;
- A confirmation message should tell you that the device and your computer are paired;
- Click on Ok before exiting.
If you need to check the connection, run the Geomagic Touch Diagnostic.
Otherwise, you can start the Touch Demo.
Troubleshoot
- If you have some trouble during the installation, Try to run all the softwares as an admin
- If there is a connection error, try to disconnect from all the other networks (Wi-Fi & Ethernet)
- In some cases, clicking on Ok does not save the pairing configuration. In this case, click on Apply before clicking on Ok
- When using the Phantom in an application, release all the buttons before exiting. Otherwise, at the next start of the application, the Phantom might consider that the buttons are pressed on.
